The Commuters’ Dilemma

Let’s dive a little deeper into the concept of the ORBIT Commuter.

But first, we need to start with some bad news. Ironically, this problem affects more people in America than obesity and cancer combined, but it is so ubiquitous that very few people actually realize that it is draining their life. The problem is the self-destructive commute.

So let’s talk about it. According to recent census data, the average commute in the U.S. is 50 minutes per day. This corresponds to essentially 12,500 minutes per commuter per year. Over a 40-year career, the average American will spend the equivalence of 1 year of their life sitting in a car or subway seat or train car. And that is just the average, which means there are countless professional commuters that will spend 2 or 3 of their “best years” wasting away in a seat.

So who is doing something about it? There are multiple companies developing electric VTOL aircraft touting how flying will shorten commutes. Some cities provide busses, subways, or light rail trains so that commuters can waste years of their lives riding in collective isolation. And then there are companies creating cars that drive themselves on the roads where soulless computers and sole commuters vie for the same limited space on roads that are crumbling under the relentless pounding of vehicles weighing 4,000 to 6,000 lbs carrying a single occupant.

Each of the various commuter solutions endeavors to address one “pet peeve” for commuters, but this proves to be a challenging and multi-faceted problem. Commuters that want to read, study, or work on their commute can ride a bus or train – if they can stop looking over their shoulder long enough to concentrate on their book as they fear for their health and safety. Conscientious commuters that want to “save the whales” choose either to forego their internal combustion engine for heavy electric batteries or compromise their personal safety in a two-door Spec hyper-miler dodging between semi-trucks and SUVs at highway speeds.

OK – it’s a real problem, but what other choice do commuters have? That’s where ORBIT comes in. You see, commuters want something better. They want . . .

. . . to have their own affordable vehicle from door-to-door (single mode)

. . . to not have to drive and instead be able to snooze, study, or work

. . . to bypass traffic, accidents, and the bad drivers that caused them

. . . to decrease their daily & overall commuting cost

. . . to avoid ICE greenhouse gasses and ragged-edge batteries

How can ORBIT provide all of these for commuters?
